AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The Medical Department of Patiala Locomotive Works provides comprehensive health care services to its employees of Indian Railways both serving, retired and their dependents.
- Provision of curative, Preventive promotive and Industrial health services to Railway beneficiaries.
- Occupational health services, including pre-employment and in-service ‘Periodical Medical Examination’, examination under Employee’s Compensation Act, monitoring of safety environment of works etc.
- Medical relief during Railway accidents/Workshop accidents.
- Reproductive & Child Health Services including Family Welfare & Immunization of vulnerable groups.
- Implementation of National Health programs.
Medical Department (known as PLW Railway Hospital) of Patiala Locomotive Works, Patiala renders comprehensive health care services to approximately 16500 appx. beneficiaries which include serving & retired employees & their dependents. Following are some important information regarding PLW Railway Hospital, Patiala:
- Principal Chief Medical Officer is the CHOD of Medical Department. We have a team of 08 IRHS (01 on EOL) Doctors in the specialty of General Surgeon, Obstetrics & Gynecologist, Anesthesiologist and Physicians. In addition to this, we have Orthopedic Surgeon, Pediatric Physician and Dermatologist on HVS and case to case basis. They are giving their services on case to case basis twice in a week or as and when required. We have one part time Dental Surgeon & one Homeopath Physician also.
- We have 50 Bedded hospital located in PLW township.
- We have a First Aid Post in PLW Workshop also.
MEDICAL FACILITIES IN PLW RAILWAY HOSPITAL
- OPD – Provides specialist as well as general out patient service with average attendance of 300 patients daily. Round the clock ambulance service is available in Hospital & Workshop premises. Pediatrician’s service is also available on case to case basis.
- Dental Unit – One fully equipped Dental Unit is operational with one part-time Dental Surgeon.
- Specialist Services in IPD – A 50 bedded hospital which includes post-operative and critical care beds & cabins. Provides Medical, Surgical, Obstetrics & Gynecologist by regular Doctors and Orthopedic & ophthalmology services through HVS and case to case basis Surgeon.
- Emergency Ward – Well equipped emergency unit functions round the clock.
- First Aid Post – One first aid post inside the workshop with round the clock ambulance service.
- Imaging Investigation – Radiological-X-Ray & Ultrasound.
- Pathology – Performing haemotology, bio-chemistry & serological test facilities with semi- auto analyzer & Cell counter.
- Other – ECG and ABG at the point of care.
- Operation Theatre – Performing all major surgical operation in General Surgery, Gynae. & Obst., Ortho, etc. Operation Theatre is well equipped with Anesthesia work station, multipara monitor, pulse oximeter, cardiac monitor, advanced laproscopy units and cardiac monitor and defibrillator etc.
- Physiotherapy – Providing Physiotherapy services with SWD M/c, Ultrasound diathermy, interferential therapy, Wax Therapy, intermitted traction & various exercisers.
- Family & Child Welfare – Performing Sterilization operations, providing Ante -Notol Post Natal care & routine immunization & Family Welfare.
- Special Drives – Pulse Polio, School Health, periodic check up of staff working in shops, health check up and awareness camps.
- Covid-19-All Covid-19 screening, testing & referral activities with 05 bedded covid-19 ward.
- Mortuary – Two chamber AC Mortuary.
- Library – A small Medical Library is available in PLW Hospital.
- Oxygen Plant ( capacity 500 LPM ), 45 Jumbo oxygen cylinder and 05/10 liter oxygen concentrator.
