Present Activities:
  • Arrangement of latest drawings & specifications of Electric locomotive and DETC from CLW/RDSO & ICF.
  • Periodic Updation of drawing record based on CLW Category book or information received from CLW/RDSO from time to time.
  • Linking of latest drawings/specifications in tender cases for procurement purpose.
  • Framing of Eligibility Criteria and technical evaluation of offers in tender cases.
  • Providing technical support to shops in manufacturing of Electric locomotive/DETC.
  • Implementation of various modifications recommended by RDSO, in electric locomotives in coordination with shops, firms & CLW/RDSO.
  • Prototype inspection of small fabrication items of DETC/Electric Loco.
  • Correspondence with firms for design & quality related issues of trade supply items.
Infrastructure:

  • For 3D-CAD (Design)-NX Gateway, NX Solid Modeling, NX Drafting, Feature Modeling,NX Assembly Modeling,NX Freeform Modeling,IGES,DXF,STEP Bundle,2D Exchange etc.,
  • PDM(Product Data Management)/PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)-Team Centre  Author,NX Embedded Client,Oracle Named user Standard Edition.
          Hardware-
  • Application Server-Power Edge R620, Storage Server-Power Vault NX3200, High End Workstations, Printer and Scanner (upto A0 size).

Following are the major sections under Quality Wing indicating their Roles & Responsibilities are defined below:
  • Service Improvement Group (SIG) Cell: Registration of warranty complaints, correspondence with shops and depot regarding warranty complaints, issue of closure letters for warranty complaints. Arranging meetings of standing committee for warranty complaints. Advising warranty details annually to the vendor evaluation agencies. Advising periodically about pending warranty complaints to the firms having major complaints pending.
  • Technical training center (TTC): Different type of trainings of PLW and Zonal railways technicians and supervisors. Manufacturing of wooden models.
  • Incentive cell (ISM): Time study, collection and checking of all necessary details, calculation and arranging finance vetting for incentive bonus to PLW staff.
  • Non Railway Customers (NRC) Cell: Issue of budgetary offers, terms & conditions, proforma invoice, sale issue note, GST details submission on portal etc. for supply of material and repair/manufacturing activities for Non Railway Customers.
  • ISO Cell: Organizing all necessary activities like documentation, internal audits, management review meetings, surveillance & certification audits for ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001, ISO/TS 22163, Green Building for Admin building, 5-S, IRIS.  Monitoring of different certifications of PLW through MCDO and Management Review Meetings.
  • C&M Lab: Chemical, mechanical, metallographic testing of materials, UST, testing of effluent water, stack emission, ambient air quality etc, NABL accreditation.
  • Receipt Inspection (RI): Inspection (visual, dimensional, laboratory, practical) of material at receipt as per inspection calls given by Store Depot. Inspections offered by different shops as per requirement.
