Railway Vigilance Organisation in its present form has largely come about as a result of the recommendations of Railway Corruption Inquiry Committee (1955) under the Chairmanship of late Acharya J.B. Kripalani, Santhanam Committee (1964) and Administrative Reforms Commission (1970) and subsequent reviews from time to time. Presently, Central Vigilance Commission, set up as a result of Santhanam Committee’s recommendations, is in-charge of Superintendence of Vigilance in all Central Government Departments.
The Railway Vigilance Organization reports to the Member (Staff)/Railway Board who is the functional Member In-charge of Vigilance. Advisor (Vigilance) is also Chief Vigilance Officer of the Ministry of Railways and reports to CVC.
ORGANISATION
The organization is a two-tier organization which functions at Railway Board and at Zonal Railway Headquarters.
The Vigilance Organization of PLW is headed by Shri Rajnish Bansal the Chief Vigilance Officer of PLW. He is assisted by Shri Parmod Kumar, Dy.CVO.

·         Surveillance and Detection
·         Deterrent Punitive Action
COMPLAINTS
All complaints shall be made under the signature and full identity, i.e., Name, Address, etc., of the complainant. Anonymous and Pseudonymous complaints are generally not entertained and are filed. The name and identity of the complainant is kept secret if desired by the complainant.
Complaints can be made directly to the Vigilance Directorate of Railway Board or the Vigilance organisation of the Zonal Railway/Production Unit. Complaints can also be made to any railway administrative authority, Central Vigilance Commission, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Police authorities, any Ministry or Department or to the President’s Secretariat.
